BIPOC Organizers Cohort: Reshaping Animal Advocacy Funding

This is a dynamic space designed by and for BIPOC organizers and activists within the vegan and animal advocacy movement.

What is the BIPOC* Organizers Cohort?

Our cohort is a collaborative space where BIPOC organizers come together to share challenges, craft solutions, and advocate for changes in the funding community to better support their work. Unlike traditional cohorts, our approach leverages the wealth of knowledge within our community rather than relying on external 'experts.'

Why Join Us?

We value the power of lived experiences. This cohort is dedicated to harnessing the collective wisdom of BIPOC organizers to create practical insights and solutions for navigating funding challenges within the movement. Together, we'll co-create a shared analysis that supports BIPOC groups in securing necessary resources and will be useful for funders who want to support BIPOC-led groups.

What to Expect:

Interactive Discussions: Facilitated by Unity Collective, building a container for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

Community Wisdom: Drawing on the lived experiences, struggles, and victories of participants.

Collaborative Work: Developing a shared analysis with practical insights for overcoming funding challenges.

Join us to collectively address funding challenges and pave the way for more inclusive and effective advocacy work. Apply below to be one of the 6 participants.

*We use BIPOC as a searchable term for the purpose of building coalitions and solidarity, though it is not a perfect term. BIPOC refers to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color individuals, as people who are racialized within white supremacy culture as targets of oppression for their race, ethnicity or national origin. However, we understand that prospective cohort members may prefer other names to describe themselves. We encourage you to tell us more about yourself in your application.

Stipend:

There is a $900 stipend available total for the three-month cohort. It will be disbursed monthly in amounts of $300. This amount comes out to $75 per hour, for a total of 12 hours per participant. Each participant is expected to engage with us in two two-hour-sessions per month.

There may be opportunities for additional work done on a volunteer basis.
